News and InformationNew Pastor at LlangollenDate Added: 01 Mar, 2007
We asked James Cornford to let us know how God saved him & led him to take up the pastorate at Llangollen in March 2007 As a child I and my family attended Mayfield Strict Baptist Church in South East Sussex. When I was fifteen the family moved to Llangollen, my mother’s home town. It was here I attended first the youth work then the worship services of Glanrafon Evangelical Church. It was in this period I became a true Christian through God’s grace and was baptised in the River Dee. After a number of years preaching at my home church and in the local area I was called by Crowfield Baptist Church, Suffolk, to become their Pastor. This was at the end of February 1999. After seven and a half years of ministry and fellowship with the folk at Crowfield, my wife, Janet and I felt that the Lord was calling us back to Llangollen. After much prayer we made the decision to move back to Llangollen, which we did on August 21st 2006, with our children Owen and Bethany. At the time I had felt the Lord wanted me to continue in the ministry long term but was not sure exactly where. During this time the church in Llangollen felt led to ask me to consider coming to Glanrafon with a view to the pastorate, which I did. After a number of preaching engagements the Church called me to the pastorate. It is a real privilege to be asked back to pastor one’s home church, if not a little daunting but we trust the Lord is with us. Doug Pearse the present pastor who retires the end of February and who is also my father-in-law, has always encouraged me in the ministry along with many others, which I thank them for. We would value the prayers of our fellow Christians both for this new chapter in our life and the church’s life and also for the salvation of many from the town. My induction is being held on Sunday 25th February at 11.00am. Associated Clusters: Wrexham (Click to view) |
